What Simply Curious Living Means

When I chose the name Simply Curious Living, it wasn’t just because it sounded pretty or clever. It felt like the truest description of the way I want to move through this stage of my life — a little more slowly, a little more intentionally, and with a lot more curiosity.

Curiosity, to me, isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about being awake to the world. It’s the gentle tug that makes me pause at the window when a cardinal lands on a branch, or reread a sentence that stirs something in me, or wonder why certain memories return when they do. It’s noticing the subtle, everyday magic that’s so easy to miss when life moves too quickly.

And simply is the part I sometimes need to remind myself of.
Life doesn’t always feel simple. Our minds race. Our lists grow. Our inner critics chime in a little louder than we’d like. But simplicity is something we can cultivate, even in small ways — one choice, one pause, one breath at a time.

Living Simply Curious means…

…staying open.
To new ideas, new creative outlets, new ways of thinking. To the possibility that life in our 60s can be expansive instead of narrowing.

…slowing down.
Letting the pace of things soften. Allowing the mind to unclutter enough for new thoughts, new stories, new sparks to show up.

…caring deeply.
About animals, about people, about the unseen threads that connect all of us. Compassion is a huge part of who I am — and a huge part of this blog.

…staying creatively awake.
Whether I’m making cards, writing a chapter, or learning something entirely new, creativity reminds me that life still holds wonder.

…finding meaning in the ordinary.
A morning walk. A quiet cup of coffee. A bird building a nest on the porch. These tiny moments often leave the deepest imprint.

A blog about gentle living — but also growth

This blog isn’t about having a perfectly curated lifestyle. You won’t find color-coded closets or morning routines that require waking up at 4 a.m. What you will find is a space where we explore the things that make life feel richer — compassion, creativity, curiosity, and the courage to wonder what else might be possible.

Why it matters to me now

In this season of caregiving, shifting identity, and moving toward a simpler life, I’ve discovered that what I crave most is meaning — the kind that isn’t loud or flashy, but soft and enduring.

Simply Curious Living is my way of gathering those moments, sharing them, and hopefully creating a place where others feel seen, inspired, and reminded that their own life still has chapters waiting to unfold.

This is the spirit I hope to carry — and share — here.
